Caoutchouc Néoprène (CR)

Neoprene rubber

Neoprene rubber, also known as CR (Chloroprene) rubber, is an elastomer with the most versatile application of all commercial rubber grades. The maximum application temperature is 90°C. Our neoprene sheet is widely applicable and has medium chemical resistance to many media, including (sea) water, chemicals, dilute acids, solvents, mineral oils, fuels and greases. In addition, Neoprene sheet has excellent resistance to weathering and ozone.

Neoprene plate

Neoprene rubber is a multifunctional rubber grade. In addition to its good mechanical and elastic properties, this material has a relatively broad resistance to a large number of substances. Neoprene rubber is particularly popular in water sports for its good water resistance (although it is not 100% waterproof). Good to know: neoprene was the first synthetic rubber and was created in the 1930s. It belongs to the chloroprene family.

The uses of Neprene rubber sheets

Neoprene rubber has good resistance to heat and temperature changes, ozone and weathering and adheres well to metal. CR sheet rubber is used for flange seals, belts and in shipbuilding. Applications with petrol and hydraulic phosphates are not recommended for neoprene, which is preferred, for example, to products based on various Nitrile rubbers.

Neoprene-based products offer good elastic capacities, particularly when hot. They also offer average resistance to oils and acids. We do not recommend their repeated use in contact with hydrocarbons or similar solvents.

Neoprene-based products offer good elastic properties, particularly when hot.

Neoprene is readily available in sheets, foils, tapes and even foam. It is an ideal elastomer for its watertightness and compatibility with metals. A common application for neoprene is gaskets. It is often found in the form of gaskets, particularly in construction and industry.

Note: When determining the quality of suitable rubber, you should always consider the environment in which the product will be used and the requirements it must meet. If in doubt, please contact our customer service department at any time.

Other: If you would like to receive customised dimensions, we offer a bespoke cutting service. Please bear in mind the maximum roll length of the product. For a personalised quote, please contact our customer service department ventes@planetcaoutchouc.com.

The characteristics of Neoprene rubber

Neoprene is obtained by polymerising chloroprene. Neoprene rubber is a versatile synthetic rubber due to its properties. CR plate has good mechanical properties as well as good wear resistance.
